BSA membership offers many great benefits, most of which we make available to the greater bibliographical public: our events, Fellowships, the New Scholars Program, and more. The Society has been working hard to bring our vision of a broader, more inclusive, and exciting bibliographical community to life. To do this, we want to bring more people in! To strengthen and develop the membership of the Bibliographical Society of America, today we are launching our first-ever membership drive!

July 1 – July 15 Membership Drive Event

  • New!! Buy or renew an Emerging membership ($25 for folks 35 and younger) and give an Emerging membership to a friend.
  •  New!! Buy or renew a Partner membership ($80 for folks 35 and older) and give a Partner membership to a friend.
  • Buy or renew a Leadership ($250) level membership and get an Emerging and a Partner level membership to gift ($125 value).
  • Buy or renew an Advancing ($500) level membership get 2 Emerging and 2 Partner level memberships to gift ($210 value).

Fine Print

All gift memberships will be activated for 2021 and expire on December 31, 2021. Lapsed memberships that are renewed now will also expire at the end of the calendar year.

Active members can renew for 2022 and give a gift membership to a friend for 2021.

The Get One, Give One opportunity is available only with online membership purchases. Don’t worry! It is easy and secure to join or renew online. Our recent cybersecurity audit report by Optimal Networks said so.

The BSA office will be closed July 3-5 for the holiday weekend. If you join/renew over the weekend, we will proceed with coordinating your gift membership(s) on Tuesday, July 6.

It’s that simple – you don’t need to wait until January or December to renew for 2022. Renew today and give a gift membership.

Membership Benefits

BSA membership does have perks, and we’re always working to find new benefits to our members. We are proud to announce brand new reciprocal membership privileges with the Center for Book Arts in New York City. CBA offers book-making classes in-person and online, so you can take advantage of the BSA member discount from anywhere in the world.

Other benefits include:

  • A subscription to the quarterly Papers of the Bibliographical Society of America (PBSA) in print and online. Members have complete access to the archive of the journal online, including recent issues that are not yet available via JStor. Once you join, we will mail you the March and June issues, and you will receive the September issue as soon as it is published this fall.
  • A 30% discount on all books published or distributed by the University of Chicago Press.
  • Reciprocal membership benefits at the Center for Book Arts (NYC), including discounts at their bookshop, on classes (virtual and in-person), and studio/book-making equipment rentals.
  • Access to members-only funding opportunities for events programming offered through the Program Committee.
  • The opportunity to share announcements – recent publications (including bookseller catalogs), promotions, awards, ongoing projects – in the member news section of our newsletter.
